View Royal holds endless recreational opportunities with a large number of municipal parks and 25 meters of trails. The CRD’s Galloping Goose Trail negotiates the town. View Royal has over 700 hectares of parkland include McKenzie, Pike, Prior and Thetis Lakes – all popular destinations for fishing and swimming. View Royal’s parkland also includes sections of Esquimalt Harbour and Portage Inlet. It is also a member of the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society and offers a facility with swimming pool, weight room, soccer fields, a nine hole golf course, and regular classes and programs.
Many historic sites can be found in View Royal including two historic pubs, Four Mile Pub & Six Mile Pub, that were established approximately 150 years ago. The Craigflower Manor & School house is another historical site that was originally set up as four farms by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1856 and is a great example of early pioneering in BC. The Craigflower Schoolhouse is the oldest public building still standing in BC and the oldest schoolhouse in Western Canada.
