Esquimalt, located next door to downtown Victoria, is a vibrant, growing community with a range of residents, from young families to retirees. It has a strong culture of public art that is evident throughout the community.

Esquimalt is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and borders Victoria and View Royal. A port town, it is made up of 10 neighbourhood areas and covers 7.08 square kilometers. It is easily accessible by car, bike, bus or foot.

Esquimalt lies within School District 61. It is home to Esquimalt High School, well known for its music program.  There are 2 elementary schools in the region, as well as a highly-regarded French immersion program for all ages. Out of School Care Programs are available through Esquimalt Parks and Recreation.

Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a fairly new facility with swimming pool, weight room, gym, and various classes for all residents and visitors in the community. The neighbouring Archie Browning Sports Centre offers over 30,000 square feet of indoor floor space. The township also encourages outdoor independent activity with their Active Living Guide. The area boasts 32 waterfront and beach access parks, greenways and open spaces, and sports fields and facilities. The West Bay Walkway connects to Victoria’s West Song Walkway, that together offer a 5.5 kilometer walking route to downtown Victoria.

Esquimalt has a very strong local economy. It is home to the Pacific Fleet of the Canadian Forces, and CFB Esquimalt is one of the largest employers in the region; it contributes nearly $650 million to the local economy. There are also a range of public administration, professional, service and construction jobs.
